Troubleshooting Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller Not Powering On When Installed On a 2013 Ford F-150
Question:
We have a 2013 Ford F150 that we just hooked up the P2 controller brake to, but are not receiving power to the unit. Weve tested the black wire coming out of our vehicle side factory supplied harness and do have power. Weve also purchased and then tried the 3036 Tekonsha harness made for our truck rather than splicing the wires from the pig tail harness with the unit and our truck harness, still no power. We installed both the relay and fuse that came with our vehicle side brake controller harness and have checked all fuses related to trailer brakes in both our fuse boxes. Is there something else we should be checking? I see a similar question was asked a few years back, did that user reply back on what fixed there issue or if it was just a bad unit? Were going to try the direct unit to battery test tonight to see if that powers the unit up or not.

As you know you have power going to the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 on your 2013 Ford F-150 it really only comes down to 2 possible issues. Either the P2 is faulty or you do not have a good ground wire connection. Connecting the unit directly to the 12 volt battery terminals will allow you to verify the controller is powering on. You can always run a jumper on the ground wire to a known good ground point.
We never got a reply back from the question and answer you saw so it was likely not a faulty unit or he did not get them from us.
