Recommended Hitch for a 2021 Subaru Outback
Question:
Hello I am looking for a dt73rr hitch. It came up on a Subaru forum search on google that you don’t have to remove number. Is this no longer manufactured? Thank you

I have a better option for a hitch for your 2021 Subaru Outback but the Draw-Tite one you referenced has been removed from our website due to Draw-Tite being sold. Their inventory is perpetually backordered and will be for awhile (04/04/23).
Instead, I recommend the etrailer Hitch item # e25TR for your Outback. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Subaru with included hardware. The reason this is a better option, besides being in stock, is how it attaches to your vehicle. The etrailer hitch mounts behind your rear bumper cover. This helps with both appearance and ground clearance because only the 2" receiver is visible. I have attached pictures below to show you the difference.
Another thing to take note of is the towing capacity for a 2021 Outback Wagon is 2,700 to 3,500 lbs depending on towing options. The Draw-Tite hitch has a listed capacity of 4,500 lbs but your vehicle won't be able to tow that much.
The etrailer Hitch item # e25TR has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs. Neither hitch is compatible with weight distribution systems.
If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C56040 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
I have linked a couple of installation videos below.
