Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Question:

We are setting up a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 door to tow behind a 2019 Jayco class C. Plan on reusing SD tow bar and safety cables. Looks like we need #RM-521453-5 base plate kit. Need advice on which supplemental braking system is best for us? Demco or Roadmaster plus any stop light kit required? Also a wiring kit to connect stop/turn from RV to Jeep? Looking for the simplest set up that works well. Thank you

Since you are planning on using our etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates item # e74ZR, you will want the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # RM-521453-5. These are confirmed to fit the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon's with the factory steel or plastic bumpers.

I recommend the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 over the Roadmaster item # RM-8700 you were looking at. It is easier to install and more reliable. If you have air brakes in your motorhome, then you will want the Demco SMI Air Force One item # SM99243. This is a similar system that utilizes an air hose to connect the vehicles and will still apply your Jeep brakes at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your motorhome.

If you use the electric braking system versus the air brake system, then you will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit item # RM-751490. This kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed vehicle are being applied so you can ensure everything is functioning correctly.

Some other parts you will need to flat tow your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon are listed below along with any installation videos we may have.

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Charge Line Kit - Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.
