Moving Base Plates From 2011 GMC Terrain to 2013 Ford F150

Question:

I sold my 2011 Terrain and removed the Roadmaster Bracket #523163-1 from the terrain. Can this bracket be modified to fit on a 2013 Ford F150 pick up truck?

A vehicle base plate for a tow bar is a vehicle-specific item that is designed and engineered to fit on a particular vehicle. Although it might be theoretically possible to modify a base plate so that it fits a vehicle other than the one it was designed for, I cannot in any way recommend doing so. The geometry of the front of the Terrain and the F150 are different enough that I highly doubt it would even be possible. Keep in mind that altering a base plate assembly in any way will void any warranties, and without a doubt would leave you wide open to legal liability if the base plate should fail and something bad were to happen. Your insurance company would almost certainly not cover an accident caused by using a modified part.

For safety and peace of mind, your best bet will be to use a base plate that is designed for your vehicle. I have linked you to Base Plates, Supplemental Braking and Tow Bar Wiring items that have been determined to be a fit for your vehicle.
