Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland

Question:

Can someone at Etrailer please tell me if they are correct, compatible, and all necessary to flat tow my 2017 Jeep Cherokee overland edition. Also I just installed a trailer hitch onto this vehicle from Etrailer. And I would like to add the trailer wiring kit but need to know if it is compatible with the tow wiring that will be made at the tail lights.

I have a couple of options for you depending on whether or not your 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland edition is 2WD or 4WD. If it is the 2WD model then you can only tow it with a dolly like item # DM9713093.

If your Jeep Cherokee is a 4WD model then you will need the following parts:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar item # RM-520 and item # RM-643

Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # RM-521447-5

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Supplemental Braking System - Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

For a wiring harness that is compatible with a flat towing kit, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56208. This is a custom fit harness that installs behind your rear tail lights. It plugs directly into existing ports.

I have linked installation videos below for you to check out.
