When Should You Replace The Valve Stems On Your Trailer

Question:

I need to replace tires on a pop up camper. Do I need to replace valve stems also?

Since most valve stems are rubber they will start to dry rot and should typically be replaced at the same time you replace your tires. When looking for new valve stems you'll want to ensure that they're rated for the PSI of your tires and the correct size for the valve stem hole in the wheel.

For example, the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem # AM20907 you were looking at has a 100 PSI rating and fits a 0.625" diameter hole.

Wheels 16" and up in diameter typically have a 0.625" valve stem hole and wheels 15" in diameter and lower are going to have a 0.453" diameter valve stem hole. Since you have a pop up I'm assuming you most likely are on the smaller range for wheels so you'd need something like part # AM20904, which has a PSI rating of 80 and fits a 0.453" diameter hole.
