How To Know If Curt Echo Wireless C51180 Will Work With 7-way Connector On 2016 Subaru Outback
Question:
I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with a factory 4 pin and 7pin adapter. Looking at the Curt Echo brake controller. Do I need a real 7 Pin hook up or will it work with the adapter? Thanks so much!

The Curt Echo Wireless # C51180 requires the 12v power pin to be hooked up on your 7-way connector as that's how it turns on.
As long as the 7-way connector on your 2016 Subaru Outback has that you'll be able to use the Echo no problems. You can test this with a circuit tester like # PTW2993, and look for a pin that has constant power when the vehicle is on.
If your 7-way does not have the 12v power pin run you'll need to use # 10-1-1 and a 30 amp circuit breaker # PK54530 to activate it.
