Replacement Actuator With Electric Lockout for Fulton A60
Question:
I have a 2007 caravelle not trailer, dual axle single disc brakes for our 23ft baja islander boat. For the coupler I have a Fulton A60. My shock inside the mechanism is shot. Is there anything comparable to this that I can use? I would also like to bre able to put my truck in reverse and not have to manually go out and flick a switch to back up. I have a 7 round electrical on my 08 ram. Thank you!

What you need is an actuator rated for disc brakes with an electric lockout. I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM62VR.This has a 7,000 lb capacity which is slightly higher than your A60 and fits a 2" ball. It also features the E-Z latch coupler that lets you drop the coupler over the ball to snap in place. The electric lockout will allow you to back up without getting out of your truck.
I'm assuming you currently have a 4-way on your trailer so you will also need to change some wiring. If you want to add a 7-way on your trailer you can use the # H20046. This will leave you with some unused pins on the connector but you won't have to use an adapter to plug it into the vehicle.
The other option is to switch your 4-way to a 5-way using the # HM37918. You would also need a 5-way to 7-way adapter # A57WB or # A57CCB. If you're not sure which you would rather do I would add the 7-way. You will have 1 less part without the adapter and if you want to switch to electric over hydraulic at some point you would need a 7-way to make that happen.
