Recommended Replacement Tires For A 2012 Aliner Classic Pop Up Camper

Question:

Aframe Aliner 12’ one axle camper: 14” radial trailer tires on 12’, one axle, 2.4k pounds loaded. Tires 6 years old. Good shape but told to replace every 5-6 years. Average 5k mileage per year and about one month camping outdoors. Camper always stowed in garage. Want advice on best tires for safety so important with only one axle.

Typically trailer tires should be replaced every 3-6 years depending on wear. Heat and UV rays are the biggest causes of deterioration for tires but even storing the trailer inside can still lead to dry rot or flat spotting. The sidewalls of trailer tires on campers will typically wear out well before the tread will so you'll definitely want to give your trailer tires a once-over routinely to ensure they're still in good shape.

As for a replacement, I recommend the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # AM10234. Kenda has great reviews and a great warranty. This tire comes with a 1-year worry-free warranty, which means if anything happens in the first year they'll replace the tire, and a 5-Year limited warranty to cover the tire for its expected lifespan.

The # AM10234 will fit 14" x 5", 14" x 5-1/2", 14" x 6", and 14" x 6-1/2" wheels and has a maximum load rating of 1,925lbs at 60 psi, which will be more than enough for your Aliner. I've attached one of our help articles below that go over some basics for tire maintenance and what to look for when examining your tires for damage.
