Can You Run An AC Unit With A Heat Strip And Another Unit With A Heat Pump On The Same System

Question:

I’m have a 2007 holiday rambler endeavor motorhome with the duo therm 630035.331 air unit on rear … I want to replace the rear unit only but has one thermostat for both and I believe the front unit is a heat pump. Can I use the front unit heat pump and use rear advent unit with heat strip and system still operate correctly

You would not be able to control both the heat pump and heat strip with one thermostat. The thermostat is only going to work with one or the other depending on how you have the Dip switches set. The only way to have a heating option in the rear would be to completely replace the system in the back and have two separate systems/thermostats or to switch out both systems with a dual system like the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR67FJ or # FR84FJ and add in heat strips # FR27PR.

If you just want to replace the rooftop unit in the back and lose the heating function then you could install the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150. Since you have a heat pump you most likely have a 9-pin wiring harness and would also need the adapter # ACCOLKIT as well in order to connect to your controller.

I've attached a short video below where I'll show you the harness I'm referring to and how to use the adapter.
