Recommended Hitch for a 1-1/4 Bike Rack on a 2022 Nissan Frontier

Question:

Can I get a hitch for a 2022 Nissan Frontier that has a 1 tongue opening? I guess that is Class II. I have a bike carrier that has the 1 tongue Tongue weight would be less than 300#. Thanks

It sounds like you are looking for a 1-1/4" class II hitch. The only hitches available for the 2022 Frontier are 2" class III hitches like item # e98869. Your Frontier has a higher capacity for towing than whatever vehicle you previously used your bike rack on so there are no lower capacity hitches.

You can still use your 1-1/4" hitch bike rack with your Frontier though. The etrailer Hitch item # e98869 has a 500 lbs tongue weight capacity. You can use an adapter like item # e58YR to mount your bike rack in the 2" receiver. This adapter will reduce your hitches capacity by 50% but that will still leave you with 250 lbs of capacity.

Another option and one I recommend doing first is checking to see if your bike rack has a hitch reducer available from its manufacturer. If you would like me to check for you I would just need the make and model of your bike rack.
