Light Output of Optronics LED Utility Light # BUL78CB Versus Standard # 1156 Bulb
Question:
How does the light output from this compare to a normal light with a single 1156 bulb in it?
asked by: George S
Helpful Expert Reply:
The light output delivered by the Optronics # BUL78CB would be considerably greater than that of a single 1156 single filament bulb. A single 1156 would put out about 32 Candela, while the Optronics # BUL78CB puts out 125 Candela.
If you were considering using the # BUL78CB as a back-up lamp, keep in mind that it does not meet DOT specifications as a back-up lamp. This will not present a problem unless your trailer is used commercially. If you need to meet DOT specs, use a lamp like # BUL10CB which is mounted using the # A70GB grommet. The brightness of both lamps is similar, but the # BUL10CB uses a lens that diffuses the light over a larger area, rather than the lens of the BUL78CB which focuses the light.
