Will Powered Tonneau Covers Require You To Still Open The Tailgate In Order To Open And Close

Question:

Will the power release tailgate lower without Pullinginch the tailgate open on a 2021 Silverado? With my current tone of cover it rubs the top of the tailgate so hard that the toe gate must be pulled down instead of releasing and opening. With the release button on the dash or key fob. Will the tailgate come down with the pace Edwards switch blade?

If your current tonneau cover is pressing that hard against your tailgate then it's not properly installed. The Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-SWCA27A58 you were looking at doesn't have a powered function and would require you to lower the tailgate in order to release it and push it back into the canister.

If you were wanting a powered cover then you would need the Pace Edwards Bedlocker # 311-BLCA27A58 or Ultragroove # 311-KECA27A58 models. If installed properly you should not have to lower the tailgate in order to open or close your cover with the key fob. I've attached a couple of videos below where you can see these covers be used in this way.
