Are There Different Styles Of Valve Stems Based On Rim Styles

Question:

I was hoping to install bolt on valve stems for use with TST flow thru sensors. I found out that certain types of rims, like the aluminum style rims on my TT, will not let the washer sit flat on surface on the outside. The little recess where the valve stem comes out is smaller than the washer for the stem. I tried just sandwiching the washer over the recessed cavity but it allows for enough lateral movement in the stem to bleed off air. I discovered this while remounting the sensor after install of the bolt on stem. The white steel spare, mounted the bolt on stem with no issue. This might need to be noted for fitment. Are there different styles of bolt on valve stems for different rim styles?

The washer on the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem # AM20906 is to help spread out the pressure from the nut so it essentially would need to be smashed up against the outside of the valve stem rim hole in order to hold the valve stem in place tightly. If you're having a lot of movement even when tight then you most likely have the incorrect size valve stem for the wheel, you haven't tightened the nut enough, or you're just using the incorrect grommet. I recommend double-checking your rim hole size with a pair of calipers # PTW80157 to ensure you have the correct size valve stem.

The difference in valve stems is typically just based on materials used to handle certain psi ratings and the diameter of the rim hole. 8" - 15" wheels typically use .453" valve stems and 16", 16.5" and 17.5" use .625" valve stem.?
