Replacement Trailer Surge Brake Coupler For a ShoreLandr Trailer With Tie Down Engineering LP7000
Question:
I have a tandem axle shorelander boat trailer with a Tie Down Engineering LP7000 coupler/actuator assembly that is worn to the point of needing replacement. How do I order one that will fit inside of the swing tongue portion of the trailer? That piece has an inside width of a little over 3, so will this assembly fit inside there? The vertical height of that channel is a little over 4. I want an assembly that will fit into the original location.

It sounds like either the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator for Disc # DX56FR or Drum # DX83FR brakes is going to be the best replacement option. According to the information I could find from ShoreLandr your trailer does use a 3" wide by 5" tall tongue. As I was unable to find exact information for a Tie Down Engineering LP7000 surge actuator I did see they offered an 70 LP which was rated for 7,000lbs. This Dexter has a similar design to the 70 LP from the limited documents I could find from Tie Down. Replacing your actuator may require some additional fabrication including welding on a new section of tongue to fit the new coupler.
