Activating 7-way Trailer Accessory Power Circuit on 1995 Chevy Sliverado

Question:

I have a 1995 Chev 2500 Sliverado with a 7 wire trialer connection. It was not originally wired to supply 12v to the trialer. I want to do this now. I have found the orange wire on the truck at the rear bumper but there is no power to this wire. I have the truck running and have tested the wire with my multi meter. Do you know if there is a fuse or rely that needs to be checked. I can not find anything labelled for this wire in the fuse panel or rely box.

The orange wire from the rudimentary tow package on the 1995 Silverado ends in the engine compartment, under the brake booster (see photo). There will be a coiled up piece of wire that is secured with electrical tape. Years of road crud is probably built up on the tape, which could make the wire difficult to find. Once you find it, you can either connect it to a inline circuit breaker like part # 9510 and run it to the positive battery terminal, or you can connect it to the power post on the fuse box as shown in the photo I provided. If you decide to attach it to the post, you will need an M8x1.25 nut, part # 185917 to secure the ring terminal to the post.

If the orange wire is already attached to one of the posts, then there is probably a blown or missing 30 amp fuse, replace the fuse as needed.

If you cannot find the other end of the wire, you can simply run your own length of 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1, and connect it using either method mentioned above.
