Can The Brackets For A Turnoverball Hitch Be Used For A Base Rail Kit In A 2010 Ford F-350

Question:

Hi, Mike L - I have a BandW Turnover Ball Gooseneck trailer hitch installed in my 2010 F350 with 6.5 ft bed. I also have a BandW Patriot 16k fifth wheel hitch that I would love to install in the same truck. I am having difficulty finding the BandW rails kit for my model truck and am wondering if I can utilize the gooseneck brackets in any way to help the fifth wheel installation? Regards,

You won't be able to have both the Turnoverball hitch and a base rail kit installed on your 2010 Ford F-350 at the same time since they utilize the same space for mounting and the brackets between the two systems are not compatible with each other.

Normally, I'd just recommend an adapter like the Curt X5 # 16310 that would drop into your Turnoverball hitch and give you base rails, but you have a 6.5' bed so you'll need to use a sliding hitch to prevent the nose of your fifth wheel from taking out the cab of your F-350 when making tight turns.

To use the sliding version of the Patriot # BWRVK3270 you'd need to remove the Turnoverball hitch and install base rails like the # BWRVK2400.

In my opinion, you should keep the Turnoverball hitch since it gives you a clear bed and the option to tow gooseneck trailer, sell your Patriot, and get the sliding Companion # BWRVK3400-5W. This way you don't have to do a bunch of extra work, get a top tier quality hitch, and have the sliding function for extra turning clearance.

Let me know what you think and we can figure out the best option for your needs.

Also, Mike says hi ;)
