Adapting Redarc Tow Pro Elite To Connect To Tekonsha Pigtail Adapter 3041-P On a 2019 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
Hello, I have a Tekonsha 3041-P harness and RedArc Tow Pro Elite. I am unsure what to do with the additional white ground wire, with eyelet that comes out of the tekonsha plug. If I cut off the Tekonsha 3041P black connector, wire all the proper colors together, I am left with the additional white wire that is supposed to be grounded. This is for a 5th Gen, 2019 4Runner. Thank you

Expert Reply:
The additional white wire on the Tekonsha Pigtail # 3041-P is required to be grounded as the factory ground wire has proven to not make a strong enough ground connection on your 2019 Toyota 4Runner. We do offer the Adapter # 331-TPH-017 which will allow you to connect directly from the Tekonsha pigtail to the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR without having to cut off the connector or splice any wiring. We also have the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002 which will allow you to place the control knob in one of the factory connector slots.
