High Capacity 5th Wheel Hitch Options for 2014 Ram 3500 Long Bed With OEM 5th Wheel Prep Package

Question:

I just purchased a Ram 3500 long bed and it has the 5th wheel tow prep package and a 30k towing capacity. Will this hitch work and if so, what other parts and fabrication is necessary? If not, what do you recommend to get the highest rated hitch for this truck? Thanks.

B & W offers a high capacity 5th wheel hitch that will use the imbedded puck/under bed rail system on your 2014 Ram 3500, part # BWRVK3600. The hitch has a 25K capacity, and is the highest capacity hitch offered for your truck. The Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Hitch you referenced, part # RP30054 is meant for flat bed or cab and chassis trucks only, and would not be a good choice for your 2014 Ram with the OE prep package. I suppose if you were willing to go through enough modification and fabrication work, the hitch could work, but you would be on your own to do the engineering and fab work, I would have no specific advice on that.

If you need a 7-way ttrailer connector installed in the truck bed, you can install one ujsing part # 41157.
