Will Lets Go Aero NEO2 2-Bike Rack Clear the Rear Spare Tire of 2004 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Im worried about the spare tire being in the way. Also, how can we lock this in case we would like to stop and grab a bite and leave the bikes in the car?

You can determine the fit of the Lets Go Aero NEO2 2-Bike Rack # B01311 or any other hitch-mount carrier on your 2004 Jeep Wrangler by taking one simple measurement of its hitch. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear-most part of the vehicle, which in your case should be the back edge of the spare tire. The linked article offers details and photos to illustrate this measurement process.
Once you know the distance from the hitch pin hole to the back edge of your spare tire you can select a bike carrier that provides at least this much clearance.
The NEO2 provides a substantial 12-inches of clearance from its hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. I have linked a product review video for this carrier. This rack offers a 2-bike, 40 lbs per bike load capacity and both will fit either a 1-1/4-inch or 2-inch hitch receiver.
Do note that this carrier will require that one bike mount between the carrier and the spare; the design and width of that bike may be something to keep in mind as you consider the fit.
We offer a range of locks that can secure your carrier and bikes like the etrailer # e98891 which can be run into the chain loops of your hitch receiver.
Many users of hitch-mount bike carriers choose to add a stabilizing strap such as Curt # 18050 to steady the bikes and to take some of the stress of the loaded carrier weight off the hitch receiver. A video for this item is also provided.
