How Does Kat's Circulating Tank Heater Install On 2001 GMC Yukon with 5.3 Liter Engine

Question:

Hello. Im interested in these circulating coolant heaters. So I am wondering how to go about installing on this vehicle. I would have to install the optional tee fitting onto the bottom radiator hose. Where would i install the next hose, hose from heater core going to water pump? And which hose is this one? By installing this way, will the coolant circulate around the engine block?

I did some research and since the radiator hose of your 2001 GMC Yukon is 1-1/4 inch in diameter the correct hose adapter you'd need to use with the Kat's Heaters Thermostatically Controlled Circulating Tank Heater part # KH13200 is the part # KH28114.

To install the heater you will first need to drain the cooling system. Then cut the lower radiator hose in the middle of the hose and install the 1-1/4" Lower Radiator Hose Connector for Kat's Heaters Circulating Tank Heaters part # KH28114 into the lower hose and secure with two hose clamps.

Locate heater hose along right side bank of engine. Cut 4” out of the center of hose and install the y connector with two hose clamps. Mount tank bracket to sheet metal plate along right side wheel well. Mount as low and close to frame as possible. Mount heater tank in tank bracket and secure. Attach 5/8” green stripe heater hose from lower radiator hose to lower connection on heater tank and secure with hose clamps.

Attach 5/8” green stripe heater hose from y connector to upper connection of heater tank and secure with hose clamps. Attach electrical plug to grille and fasten with wire ties. Fill system with coolant and pressure test for leaks.
