Question:

I want to use a Tri lift carrier with a 300 lb handicapped scooter hanging on this. Will any of your hitches work?

Thanks for reaching out!

Our trailer hitches, like the etrailer Hitch # e28AR, that fit your 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe are more than capable of handling the weight of a Trilift carrier and 300 lb mobility scooter but when I checked the owner's manual for your vehicle it looks like the tongue weight rating for your vehicle is less than the 600 lb rating that this specific hitch has (which isn't uncommon as the hitches are tested apart from the vehicle).

According to the online manual your Santa Fe can handle 280 lbs tongue weight if you have the GDI but that is increased to 350 lbs of tongue weight if you have the TGDI. This means the GDI won't be able to accomplish this but the TGDI might depending on the weight of the Trilift carrier. If your Trilift carrier weighs in at 50 lbs or less you will be able to safely do this with the TGDI.

Be sure to check your copy of the owner's manual for your Santa Fe to verify the weight ratings I referenced above. I'm also attaching a link to our installation video of this hitch on a 2022 Santa Fe for you to check out.
