Recommended Hitch and Wiring Harness Installation Method on a 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid

Question:

The instructions say to run a power line to the battery with a 10amp fuse that is included. Why can’t we just use a fuse tap and run the power to the fuse box instead of the battery?

The reason you can't use a fuse tap to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness item # TK32VR, on your Sportage Hybrid, is because the moduLite power converter has to have a constant supply directly from your battery. Without this direct source of power you would experience flickering lights, blown fuses, and that converter would eventually fail. Wiring it with a fuse tap would also void any warranties.

The Curt Wiring Harness item # C99DR is confirmed to fit your 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid. Curt makes the best wiring harnesses in the towing business. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Kia's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, behind the tail lights.

I saw you were looking at the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e38KR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Kia with included hardware. It also fits the Hybrid model.

I attached a couple of pictures below that a customer sent in that will show you what this hitch looks like installed.

To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
