Weight of Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches for a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

Question:

re: 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross hitch. Curt C64DR is listed as Class 1 and Draw-Tite DT28GR is Class 3. Q: what are their respective weights? Not capacity but the actual weight of the hitch. Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C64DR weighs in at about 25 lbs while the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT28GR weighs in at about 26 lbs so they are basically identical for your 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross.

The only difference between the two is that the Draw-Tite is rated as a Class III so the tongue weight is 300 lbs instead of 200 lbs like the Curt Class I hitch. I typically recommend going with the higher tongue weight but it looks like your Corolla Cross is only rated for 1,500 towing so the tongue weight will be 150 lbs which will be your limiting factor.

If you plan on using the hitch for a bike rack I recommend the Class III simply because some bike racks have stipulations for Class III hitches but it's just a technicality. These are essentially the same hitch but the different manufacturers gave them different Class ratings (I think Curt just wanted to play it safe because of the low tow rating on your vehicle).

Attached are installation instructions for both hitches that you can reference.
