The fuse box in your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado HD is located on the driver-side engine compartment. Opening it will require removal of a support bracket in the corner closest to the driver. The fuse box is just forward of this bracket. With the bracket removed the top cover of the Accessory Fuse Block can be snapped off. Next you will remove the lower cover to reveal the auxiliary positive power posts. Please refer to the linked article on brake controller installation which provides detailed photos and instructions for this process.

You will need to locate and connect the black 12V power wire to send power to your trailer connector. This is often coiled up under the brake master cylinder and will connect to the positive post in the accessory fuse block. You may need to install a 40-amp fuse in the last spot, closest to the post, to power the hot lead. If you prefer you can attach this lead, using a 40-amp breaker, such as # PK54540, directly to the battery positive terminal. Please refer to step F in the linked article.
