Parts Needed To Tow a Trailer with 2021 Ford Ranger without Tow Package
Question:
Curious to know what I would need to tow without the tow package on a 2021 ford ranger. I know that the max capacity would not change from 3500# but what would I need to pull a small trailer? For example, would I need to buy a hitch receiver or could I mount a hitch on the bumper?

In order to tow a trailer with a 2021 Ford Ranger you'd need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. If the trailer has brakes you'd also need a brake controller. It's not advised to pull with the bumper (if applicable) as this does not allow you to get the trailer level in most cases which will create issues with stability and the bumper (if applicable) also reduces capacity. I have attached some options below.
Basic Tow Package:
Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13417
T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector part # 22124
Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches part # C45554
Upgraded Tow Package Add-On:
Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180
