Correct Wiring to Install Brake Controller on a 2010 Chevy Express Van with Tow Package

Question:

Brake Controller 2010 Express with factory tow package Hi. I have the stated vehicle with a factory tow package. It has a 7 way connector which and i just got a braked trailer so I need a controller. I see the pigtail under the dash but I cant tell if the power is connected under the hood at the fuse block. I dont see any breakers installed anywhere and dont really see an unconnected wire around the block. All the videos I can find are either Chevy Express without the tow package or trucks like the Silverado which has a different fuse block layout. Im trying to decide how much work needs to be done to get this installed in the limited time I have to do it. Do you know what state the factory tow setup comes? THANKS!

To install a brake controller, like the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160, to the tow package wiring on your 2010 Chevy Express Van you'll need to connect the wiring from the brake controller pigtail (left side) to the wiring on your Express (right side) that you found under the driver side of the instrument panel. I didn't see in the online owner's manual that you'd need to connect anything under the hood so you should be okay to just hook it up and go, although you can use a circuit tester to check for constant power on the red/white wire and then power when you press your brake pedal on the light blue wire.

Here are the connections you'll need to make:

Pigtail - Vehicle
Blue - Dark Blue
Black - Red/White
White - Black
Red - Light Blue

Hope this helps to speed up the installation process for you!
