Replacement Brake Controller For A 1999 Chevrolet Suburban
Question:
I have a 1999 Suburban with an Impluse brake controller towing a 25 foot Komfort travel trailer and am having issues with the brakes working. I checked the following wires and believe they are working correctly: - Black 12volts when key is on - Red 12 volts when brake pedal depressed, 0 volts when not depressed - White secured to ground The Blue wire shows a constant 2 volts whether or not the key is on and whether or not the brake pedal is depressed. I think this means my controller is bad. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

After checking the volts of each wire using The Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993 and checking that the ground is secured and good it does sound like you will need a new brake controller. I recommend The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR.
The Redarc controller installs out of sight behind the dash so there will be no inference with the airbags or other vehicle accessories. The control knob will be mounted on your dash giving you a clean factory look.
The controller is compatible with both electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. The Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR is the harness needed to give power to the controller. One end plugs into the brake controller when the other end splices into your vehicle's wiring.
I attached a review video link below.
