Trailer Wiring Harness For A 2017 Volkswagen Beetle
Question:
I use a hitch mounted bike rack and was concerned that the Beetle tail lights are obscured by 2 bicycles, so Id like to add some simple LED tail lights to my bike rack. The Curt 56380 harness kit includes a wire that runs all the way to the battery not convenient to install. With the additional LED tail lights, do I really need the extra battery connection since LEDs have low current requirements??

Yes, you will have to run the extra to your battery for it to work properly on The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56380.
This harness will give you the attachment point that you will need to plug in your tail lights for your bike rack. The wiring harness will a 4-flat connector.
This harness will plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in the rear cargo area. You will have to remove the trunk floor coverings, storage trays, rear scuff panel, and interior side felt liners to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, you will have to run the hot lead up to your car battery.
I recommend installing The Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 onto your bike rack. These lights has an easy installation where you will just stick on and plug into your 4-way connector. They have a durable, waterproof construction that have a lasting weather resistance.
