Can Yakima SlimShady Fit on 2005 Honda Element with Roof Basket
Question:
I have a 2005 Honda Element with stock roof rack rails 44 usable width. I want to put a Yakima Y36VR on one side. How may inches will be left over to put a basket on? I have a full size spare wheel 28 X 7 to put in the basket. Any suggestions would be appreciated

When the Yakima SlimShady Awning part # Y36VR is folded up it only takes up about 4-1/2 inches of bar space that would leave you with right at 39-1/2 inches of available bar space for a basket. You could easily then fit the Yakima LoadWarrior part # Y07070 with the Yakima Spare Carrier # Y07076. This is 44 inches wide but a good portion of it can hang over the bars since the mounting brackets of the basket aren't on the very outsides of the basket.
