How to Test if Bargman Molded Trailer End 7-Way Will Have Same Connections
Question:
Hello, I am replacing a Bargman 7 way trailer end on my Rpod with a new Bargman 54006-010 Heavy-Duty Cold Weather Insulated 7-Way Molded Trailer End with 8 foot Cable. Is it likely that the color coding for the wiring will be the same since they're both Bargman hook ups?

Expert Reply:
A Bargman 7-Way Molded Trailer End Connector like the 6' # 54006-009 or your 8 foot won't necessarily have the same wiring colors. They could very well be different so you'll want to test to be sure, and the easiest way to do this is by using a circuit tester:
- Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979
The easiest way is just to connect the trailer and your tow vehicle, and use the # PTW2979 to test the wires on the trailer at the junction box while someone activates the functions. You can then compare that to the Bargman 7-way.
