Replacement Wheels and Tires For a 1967 Aristocrat Lo Liner Trailer 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern

Question:

I want to upgrade the wagon wheel style trailer wheels and tires on my 1967 Aristocrat lo liner. I want confidence while towing older trailer. is Bias the right choice? I favor radial. need 5 on 4.5 inch pattern, no offset, i think 13 inch rim would be max i could use based on wheel well size. i am currently using 13inch bias, dont like them, too narrow, i would like more rubber on the road. Can you help?

It sounds like the Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10208 is the tire you are looking for. The difference for radial vs bias comes down to how you will be using it. Radials are best for on road and highway use, bias is best for off-road trailers. You will want to measure your trailer to ensure the tire will fit correctly. This tire has a diameter of 24.7" and a width of 7.2". You want to ensure you will still have at least 1" of side wall clearance and 3" of vertical clearance for the suspension to compress.

I recommend the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20245 be used with this tire. The Counteract Tire Balancing Beads # CA66VR can be added to each wheel and tire before mounting. The beads will activity move inside the tire finding the low spot and balancing while you drive. They will continue to move as the tire wears to ensure the tire is constantly balanced.
