Replacement U-Bolt Kit, Leaf Springs, Bolts and Shackles for 68 Aristocrat Lo Liner Trailer

Question:

I have a 68 Aristocrat Loliner 15 ft. and I want to change the suspension components. So far, etrailer has recommended the e22YR springs, K71-358-00 Bolts and shackles. I want to replace the u-bolts with new kits. I don't have the exact measurements of the axle diameter, but it is square in shape. The weird thing is the way the factory fastened the u bolts to the leaf springs and axle. I attached a picture for reference. My question is if it is safe to install the new components the same way? The u-bolts appear to cradle the springs and not the axle. Thanks

Installing the U-bolts and plate like that would be fine, but I would recommend putting the plate on the leaf springs and running the U-bolts around the axle instead. The good news is you're replacing them so you can make that change when you install them.

Once you have your axle measurements we do have some kits you could use. If it is a 2" square axle the # CE23103 or for a 1-1/2" square axle the # CE23102. If it is 1-3/4" you will need the # 175130 along with the # 116308.

Since you mentioned the leaf springs, shackles, and bolts, I'll run over that quickly just to be thorough. Replacement shackles and leaf springs should match the length of what you currently have. The # K71-358-00 most likely does since 3-1/8" is the most common size for a single axle trailer.

Assuming you have 26" long leaf springs then the # e22YR will also be a fine replacement.
