Where Do the Draw-Tite and Curt Trailer Hitches Install on a 2013 Ford Fusion
Question:
I bought the Draw-Tite hitch #24897 for my 2013 Ford Fusion to carry a bike rack. I havent installed it yet. I looked on YouTube for a video showing the install and the only one I found was for a TorkLift hitch. Its hard to tell but their hitch appears different from the Draw-Tite and seems to bolts to the frame more towards the rear of the car than the I picture the Draw-Tite. The directions and pictures for the Curt hitch also seem to be more like the Torklift hitch. Can you confirm that the Draw-Tite hitch bolts to the frame in a different location than the Curt and TorkLift. Thanks.

After looking over the installation instructions for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24897 and Curt hitch # C12091 it looks to me like they install in the same place. On the frame of the 2013 Ford Fusion the very last hole at the rear of the vehicle is left alone and there is a more elongated hole forward of it that is the rear most attachment point for both hitches. You can see it in the installation instructions which I have linked to the right for both hitches.
If you are looking to do some towing first consult the vehicle owners manual to make sure it is ok to do so. If so then for a ball mount use # 3594. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # 118574.
If using the hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier make sure that the accessory is rated for use on a Class I trailer hitch.
