How To Fix Sway Issues On 2019 Ford F-150 When Towing with WDH Hitch

Question:

I have a 2019 Ford F-150 Crew Cab 4x4 pickup with a 3.5 liter 6 cylinder ecoboost engine. I am towing a 2022 East to West 2810kik camper. Tongue weight is 797 lbs and camper weight is 7228 lbs. I have a curt weight distribution hitch rated at 10000 lbs with sway control. I have an unusual amount of sway, so much do I can’t get over 60 mph. I have about 3 inches of suspension squat. What can I do to mitigate the excessive sway? I tried raising the hitch ball height 2 inches, but it didn’t help

The first step to fighting trailer sway would be to make sure you have the trailer loaded properly with the correct amount of tongue weight (10-15% of GVWR) and that the trailer sits level with the vehicle. If you still have issues once these are both checked you can look into electric anti-sway devices which use the trailer brakes to help stabilize the trailer when sway occurs at speed. I recommend the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control part # 335TSC-1000.
