It looks like on the 2013 Dodge Journey the reverse lights are on the rear hatch and possibly also on the body structure with some of the other lights. If there are reverse lights on the body structure, then you will need to access the taillight wiring and find the wire that goes to the reverse light bulb and tap into it there.
If the reverse lights are only on the light cluster in the hatch, then there should be a wiring harness at the top of the hatch going into the vehicle and you will most likely have to cut away some protective loom or covering to get to the actual wires. Then you would need to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the wires while someone sits in the car and puts the vehicle in reverse (with their foot on the brake, the emergency brake on, and the wheels chocked; safety first). Then you can tap into the wire there.
If you just cannot find the right wire then consult the vehicle owner's manual for the reverse light circuit fuse. You could then use a fuse tap to tap into the circuit. You will need about 20 feet of # 10-1-1 wire, sold in 1-foot increments, to go from the under-hood fuse panel to the back of the vehicle. When routing wire stay away from areas that can pinch or burn the wire.
