Will Dutton-Lainson Bunk Roller Rust Near Brackish Water

Question:

Not much information about the use in brackish water. Mine would not be left in the water, but rather raised and lowered during use. I thought worse case is after a time we get signs of rust, I could treat with ospho and repaint. Im also wondering if I could add a coat of galvanized paint before I install them? Thanks

The Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 has a galvanized finish which will do a great job of resisting rust and corrosion especially if you're only placing them in the water during use. Since you're using this in a brackish water environment you'll want to keep an eye out for signs of rust and be sure to treat anything you see and add a galvanized finish as needed. Adding another layer of galvanization when you're doing the installation should help some as well.

Metal near salt water will start to rust just from proximity (salt in the air) so you'll need to keep that in mind for your brackish water too.
