Troubleshooting A Draining Battery On A 2002 Toyota 4Runner When Using The Rightline SUV Tent

If your battery is dying because the hatch door is open when using the Rightline Gear SUV Tent with Rainfly # RL110907 then you have something staying on that needs to have the power cut. Most likely it's your lights so you can pull the dome light fuse (Fuse Number 5) and see if that solves your issue.

To make it easy you can install the Blue Ox Fuse ByPass Switch for Towed Vehicles # BX88272 to simply turn the fuse on/off with a switch.

If you notice you're still draining the battery then the next culprit would be your radio or a 12v outlet. You'll just need to keep checking things for power while the vehicle is off to determine where the drain is.

If you don't want to search for anything and just completely cut power to the vehicle you can also just remove the battery cables from the post to disconnect the power and prevent any draining. You could also install a circuit breaker # 337CB100PB in-line from your battery to cut the power with the press of a button.
