Can You Use A Hitch Extender On A Dual Receiver Adapter?

Question:

We are looking to use a dual hitch for a bike rack and cargo carrier. Could we use this to extend the cargo carrier so it’s extended far enough away from the bikes to utilize it?

One adapter is fine, but you actually can't also use the Curt Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers # C45796 as using two adapters would create two much of a weak point and would limit your towing capacity to nearly 0.

If you haven't found a dual hitch receiver yet, the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-077-8 is a great option that has a pretty large rise/drop of 8", and would work great with a cargo carrier like 24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # 63153.

This cargo carrier has a maximum capacity of 500lbs, a shank rise of 2-1/2" and measures 61-1/2" long, 25-1/2" wide, and 5-1/2" tall.
