Weight Distribution System for Dump Trailer With Wide Tongue Weight Range
Question:
How do you use a weight distribution hitch on a dump trailer, when the weight is added and removed all day loading and dumping. Is a WDH appropriate for this application? Assuming 10, my tongue weight fluctuates 400-1400lbs.

It is definitely possible to use a weight distribution system with your dump trailer and the 400-1,400 lb tongue weight range. What I recommend is a tongue weight scale along with a WDH that has a wide range. For a tongue weight scale I recommend the # e99044. This will plug into the OBD II port on your truck and allow you to easily check as the tongue weight changes throughout the day.
For a WDH, I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66130. This has a tongue weight range of 800-1,500 lbs which will cover you at the high end. You will also need an additional set of spring bars, so two of the # RP22225. These are rated for 400-800 lbs of tongue weight so it takes you to the low end of the range you gave me.
This setup will require carrying the spring bars with you and swapping them depending on the weight. The Strait-Line is a top of the line system, and this will keep the bar swapping to a minimum since you can cover everything with two sets of bars. You will also need a shank # RP54970 and a hitch ball # C40030.
