Recommended Parts to Flat-Tow 2014 Ford Edge with 3.5L Duratec/Ti-VCT V6 Engine
Question:
I need a towing set up for a 2014 Ford Edge. I will be pulling with a Jayco RedHawk Rv. If you could give me a list of the part numbers needed to accomplish this task I would greatly appreciate it. It needs to be as simple as possible as I am 70 years old. Also the Ford Edge is a 3.5L Duratec/Ti-VCT v6 so it should be flat towable. I can provide VIN if necessary.

I went ahead and confirmed with your 2014 Ford Edge's owner's manual that you can flat-tow with all 4 wheels on the ground with the 3.5L Duratec/Ti-VCT V6 engine.
For the parts you need, you will need a base plate, a tow bar, safety cables, a tow braking system, and vehicle tow wiring. For a great setup, I recommend the following parts:
- Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2628
- Blue Ox Alpha 2 # BX7380 (already comes with safety cables)
- Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Braking System # HM39494
- Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit # RM-152-98146-7 with Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25
The great thing about the Blue Ox Base Plate kit is that is simply installs into your Edge's chassis. It works perfectly with your 3.5L Duratec/Ti-VCT V6 engine whether you have adaptive cruise control or not. It comes with all required hardware. As far as the Blue Ox Alpha 2 tow bar, it allows for you to easily release your vehicle even in uneven ground and simply slides into the RV's hitch receiver without the need of a ball mount. You also do not need to worry about any additional adapter to use with the base plate. In addition, you will also receive the proportional action of the Brake Buddy which applies the Edge's brakes at the same level that you apply the brakes to your RV. With the diode kit, this will allow you to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your Edge's lighting system. The required charge line kit will ensure that your Edge's battery does is not drained when being towed.
