Relocating Trailer Spare Tire Below A-Frame Of a 2020 Coachmen Apex Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello. I am mounting a bike rack on my travel trailer bumper. To avoid too much weight on the bumper, I want to relocate the spare tire already mounted to bumper to the front of the camper, in the A-frame section, but underneath the propane tanks. Theres plenty of room there and the added tongue weight will not be an issue. I have seen many campers with this set up but cannot find a dedicated mount anywhere for this purpose. Even the manufacturer Coachmen Apex has them mounted there on some of their models but again, no luck finding a mount. Is there a mount available that you know of or do you know a workaround possibly? Thank you

I have a couple options for you to consider. The first is the Fulton Economy Spare Tire Carrier # FETCLB0201 which works with 4 lug and 5 lug wheels and trailer frames up to 3" wide. This would make the tire sit offset on your A-frame. It will be harder to put on and remove the spare when that time comes due to the style of the carrier.

I feel the Lippert Spare Tire Winch # LC159056 is your best option for usability. This will allow you to mount the winch on your frame and easily raise and lower the spare tire when needed. The Crank Handle # LC119226 and Cotter Pin # 165649 is what you need to raise and lower the spare.
