Can Weight Distribution System be Used with Air Bags on Tow Vehicle
Question:
Just bought a 2018 Jayco 34 RSBS. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500. The hitch is an Equalizer 14000/1400. I have read where you shouldn’t use air bags with a wdh. Defeats the purpose of the hitch. The truck is level just trying to smooth out the ride.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37140ET does call for disabling or not using the air bags on the tow vehicle (2016 GMC Sierra 2500) but there are other weight distribution systems like the Strait-Line # RP66130 (with 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030) which call for leveling the towing setup with the air bag kit first and then setting up the weight distribution system.
Weight distribution will definitely help to keep your towing rig level and help prevent or reduce trailer sway, but if you're looking to improve the ride quality of the travel trailer then you can add some suspension enhancement like the SumoSprings Helper Springs # SS33HR.
Attached are some links to our suspension enhancement options for travel trailers if this is the route you'd like to take.
