Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 6,500 - 7,200 lb Travel Trailer  

Question:

TT newbie looking to buy a new RV. TV is a 2006 Chevy 1500 4X4 5.3 liter tow package 6700 lbs GVWR. TC is 7500lbs with GCVW is 13000lbs. Looking at Jayco or Keystone 27-29 foot DW approximately 5100-5400 GVWR 6500- 7200lbs. Hitch weight...450- 550 lbs. I know Im bumping the edge but buying another truck is 3 years down the road. Nothing long planned yet, no mountains. Recommendations for a good WD hitch???

I recommend picking up the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084 with the 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 because it has a wide tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,200 lbs so it can accommodate your trailer and a future upgrade, plus the Strait-Line has arguably the best sway control on the market.

The initial setup of this weight distribution system is a bit of a process but once it's installed it will make towing your trailer much more smooth than without it.
