Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2021 Ford Ranger

Question:

So I am going to sell my 2013 Honda crv that I have been flat towing and replace with a 4x4 Ranger for the added pick up bed space. I have been using Blue Ox equipment and will keep what I have except of course for the new baseplate that will be needed. The owners manual states that the Ranger battery should not be disconnected while flat towing, this is different than the manual information found in the Chevy Colorado manual that states to disconnect the negative battery terminal in order to avoid running down the battery while towing.

You will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BLU77XR for your 2021 Ford Ranger and current Blue Ox tow bar.

For indicator lights, I suggest the Tow Ready Tail Light Isolating Diode System with 4-Pole Connector, # TR118821.

And to address your question on leaving the battery connected, correct, the online Owners' Manual does state to leave the battery connected during recreational towing. However, we have a solution with Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-156-25 and even have an installation video created for a 2021 Ford Ranger. Please the linked video below. Installation of this will allow the use of your supplemental braking system while vehicle is being towed without draining your battery.

You may or may not need a high/low adapter, objective is to have your tow bar set at +/- 3" of level once installed so as to minimize any excessive wear on the front tires and steering components of the vehicle being towed. Please note the linked help article below.

Please let me know of any follow-up questions you may have.
