Hub Conversion and Brake Assemblies for a Dexter Axle

Question:

I have a single dexter axle with 8-223 hubs with out breaks. I would like to convert to conventional hubs. The outer bearing is a LM67048 and the inner bearing is L68149. Seal doesn’t have a number on it. Measures .940 on the axle and 2.50 on the hub. Has 8-14.5 tires on it. Is there a conversation for it?

For a hub and drum assembly that uses outer bearing # LM67048 and inner bearing # L68149, I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly 10" Diameter item # 8-407-5UC3-EZ. This is the only hub we have available that matches those bearings. This hub has a 6 on 5-1/2 lug pattern and will fit a 14-1/2" wheel. The seal has an inner diameter of 1.719" outer diameter of 2.565". You may need to remeasure yours to confirm the dimensions you gave me. .940 is a really small inner diameter. We have other options for seals and the one in this kit not matching yours doesn't mean we can't find you a seal that will work. Please email me back with any other questions and that measurement if it comes up different.

For a set of brakes that will work with this hub you will want the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies item # K23-462-463-00. These are 10" x 2-1/4" Driver's-side and passenger's-side electric trailer brake assemblies that fit 4,400-lb axles. The mounting flanges have a 4-bolt pattern and fit 14" to 15" wheels.

Some other parts you may need to convert your trailer to electric brakes are:

Trailer Wiring Junction Box - 7 Color Coded Terminals - ABS item # 3375601101

Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable - Trailer End - 8' Long - RV Standard item # H20046

Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire - per Foot item # 10-2-1
