Strap Protector Recommendation to Protect Vehicle from Rubbing when Transporting Kayaks
Question:
I have 2020 Subaru Outback with factory bumper bolts front and rear for additional tie down points for kayak on roof. The front strap rubs against the front of the car. Does anyone sell strap cover to reduce chafe to car? I found short sheepskin covers on amazon but need at least 18 to provide full protection.

Expert Reply:
Yes! To protect your vehicle from rubbing from your tie-down straps, I recommend using the Erickson Chrome-Protector Sleeves for Tie-Down Straps - 12" Long # EM06305-2. These are the longest protectors we have for kayak straps. In order to get the length of protection you need, you need to order 2 sets.
I went ahead and attached a demo video for you to check out.
