Replacement Motor for a Lippert Edge Awning and How to Replace It

Question:

The new rv has a Lippert awning. The motor seems to going out. Making noise and has little strength. There are no screws in the plastic housing only rivets. I think they are forcing me to buy the whole arm! Is there a way around this by drilling out rivets and replacing the motor. Then putting in screws vs rivets.

I can see from your pictures that you have the Lippert Edge Awning. You can replace just the motor on that awning.

The correct replacement motor is the Replacement Motor for Lippert Solera Power Awnings # LC373566.

You will need to partially extend the awning by removing the rubber cap on the drive head. You will then use a 7/16" socket to override the motor. Once the awning head is extended you will need to access the motor. To do this, use a phillips screw driver to remove the screw on the back of the drive head. You can then pull apart the two pieces of the awning head cover to expose the motor. You will then want to secure the awning arms with a zip tie. Now you can remove the motor by disconnecting the wiring harness and removing the 3 screws holding the motor in place using a 3/8" socket.

Now you can install the new # LC373566 motor by lining up the gears, reinserting the screws and attaching the wiring harness.
