Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2021 Ford F-350 Pulling 9,000 Pound Trailer.

Question:

I have a thirty foot trailer 9000 lbs GVWR ,pulling with Ford Expedition all within specs. Problem: Lot of sway on the road over 60 MPH, trucks passing either direction or windy conditions. Spoke with hitch manufacturer , all new tires on SUV, heavy duty vented rotors and pads, suspension seems in good condition. A good suggestion would be appreciated . Thank you

The best way to reduce the sway you are experiencing while towing your trailer would be to add a weight distribution hitch with sway control. When choosing a WDH you want to base it on the loaded tongue weight of your trailer. This can be found using a scale like the # e99044.

With a GVWR of 9,000 lbs we can take a guess since the tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer weight. This would put your tongue weight at 900-1,350 lbs. Based on that a good option would be the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - No Shank - Trunnion Bar - 15K GTW, 1,500 lbs TW # RP66130.

This WDH will keep you level while towing and also significantly reduce the sway you are experiencing. It has a tongue weight range of 800-1,500 lbs. This would also require a shank so you would need the # RP54970. If you find that your tongue weight is a little less then the # RP66084 might be a better option with a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs.

I have attached some review videos along with some helpful articles for your reference.
