Connecting A GSI Outdoors Selkirk 540 Camp Stove To A Quick Disconnect Fitting

Question:

Hi, Can I connect the GSI Outdoors Selkirk 540 Camp Stove - 2 Burner to an RV propane quick connect? Does this stove operate on low pressure .5 psi? Besides the stove what else would I need to do this? Thanks,

To connect your GSI Outdoors Selkirk 540 Camp Stove # GSI53RV to a quick disconnect fitting you would simply need the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Hose for Small Appliance # 100476-72-MBS.

The 1"- 20 fitting on the end of this hose will screw onto the regulator that comes with your stove and the male quick disconnect fitting will attach to a female quick disconnect on your propane source.

You can add female quick disconnect to a propane tank by attaching the Camco Propane Fitting # CAM59923 to the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Connector # 104052-MBS and screwing the ACME fitting onto your propane tank. You'll want to use some Jamar's White Stuff # 37207-30555 on the threads to ensure a tight seal.

This stove does work on low pressure but with the fittings I recommended above you won't have to worry about replacing the regulator since you'll still be using it in this setup.

I am also interested in this GSI 540 stove for my RV. What you are describing above becomes a double regulated propane supply to the stove. Is there an adapter that can screw onto the stove to connect directly to the low pressure line from the RV?

@KeithM In order to hook the GSI Outdoors Selkirk 540 Camping Stove # GSI53RV up to a low pressure line on your RV you'd have to remove the factory connection line and regulator connected to it. We don't currently offer a fitting to replace this but you'd likely find what you need at your local hardware store. From there it would just be finding a hose with the correct fitting to hook up to the grill and to your connection type on the RV. The other option for this would be to install a tee before your regulator that you can connect to grill to and still use the factory connector/regulator. I'll need a bit more info on your propane setup to determine the correct tee for your setup. If you want to send me some pictures I'd be happy to take a look and make some recommendations.

Hello, does this solution work on the Selkirk 460+ version ?

@Julien Yes, as long as your 460+ has a 1"- 20 fitting (1lb disposable bottle fitting), which is most likely will have since it's a camp stove, you'll be able to follow the same setup as described above.
